Veggies - Week two

Vegetables after two weeks.

Mulch

Add mulch to the top.

Fill with soil

Fill the rest of the tub with compost, soil, blood and bone, lime, vermicast and worms.

Wicking material

Then fill the tub with good compost to just over the weed mat.

Weed matting

Mound some 20mm gravel up over the ag-pipe and place weed matting over that.

The overflow

At about ten cm from the bottom of the tub, drill a hole in the 40mm pipe and the side of the bathtub, and run a tube to the outside for an overflow. (If it rains heavily, you don't want the tub filling with water.) We placed some tile roof capping over the top of the gravel, but it's not really necessary.

Constructing the reservoir

First make your bath tub as level as you can. At the bottom, place a length of 90mm agricultural pipe in the bottom and connect a piece of 40mm pipe to it (you will water the bed through this pipe).
